The work I did in this hotel is very much about handcraft. Maybe particularly about weaving. The hands are a dominant part of the work and they refer to the process of creation - which again refers to the history of the Barrio Italia in Santiago which was heavily influenced by many different types of handcraft. The water signifies change - the change of the neighbourhood and the changing of the crafts. The hands with the hair between them is a reference to weaving, and so is the pattern in the bottom of the piece - it references the art of the poncho weavers. The sun and the moon is included because I love the stellar elements and to give the piece an air of timelessness.
